The final stretch has a lot of small moving parts. Keep one list for closing and one for the move, and check the dates with the people responsible for each step.

Before closing
For most mortgages, the Closing Disclosure must arrive at least three business days before closing. Compare it with your Loan Estimate and raise questions with the lender.
- Confirm the amount, timing, and accepted method for funds with your settlement team.
- Verify wiring instructions by calling a trusted number you already have, especially if an email claims they changed.
- Confirm identification requirements, insurance start date, and the appointment details.

At the final walkthrough
Use the contract and any repair agreements as your reference. The walkthrough is your opportunity to flag concerns before closing.
- Check agreed repairs and request supporting receipts when applicable.
- Confirm included items remain and the property condition matches the agreement.
- Discuss any new damage or unresolved issue with your agent immediately.

Make the first week easier
Pack the basics separately from the moving truck. Keep your documents, medications, chargers, and first-night supplies accessible.
- Schedule utility transfers and update mailing addresses.
- Collect keys, remotes, access instructions, and appliance manuals.
- Plan lock or access-code changes and locate utility shutoffs after possession.

DO
- Confirm instructions using a verified contact number.
- Read before signing and ask about differences.
- Keep closing documents in a secure place.

DON’T
- Trust changed wiring details just because an email looks familiar.
- Book irreversible plans around an unconfirmed closing date.
- Enter or move items into the property before you have authorized possession.
